
Missi roti is an Indian bread made with a combination of wheat flour and besan (chickpea flour) and seasoned with spices.
It makes a wonderful combination with our Dal Makhani and either Jeera Rice or Alu Methi for a very satisfying Indian meal.
INGREDIENTS
200 grams Wheat flour
1½ tsp Red chilli powder
250 grams Besan (chickpea flour)
1 tsp Dhaniya powder (coriander)
3 tbsp Ghee (clarified butter)
½ tsp Kaala Jeera (or substitute ground cumin if not available)
1 tsp Salt
½ tsp Ajwain
1/4 tsp garlic paste
½ green chilli, chopped
METHOD
In a bowl, mix the wheat flour and besan together.
Add ghee, salt, red chilli powder, dhaniya, kala jeera, garlic paste and ajwain.
Mix well. Make a stiff dough. Roll into small and thick rounds.
On a tawa (or heavy, flat bottom pan) roast basting with oil on both sides.
Serve piping hot.
